Apple blogs across the world are reporting on the latest news from the technology giant. However this time it is not hardware related, not rumours on their latest tablet or their new smart phone. This time all the Apple news sites are reporting on the latest update to the Apple iTunes store.

The iTunes news reports that Apple is making it even easier for customers to access the items in the iTunes store, they are doing this by adding pop up windows for quick access to content such as previews and other details. An Italian news site who first broke the story has said that this helpful tweak to the store when accessed through a computer allows you to access information on content such as songs, albums, videos and applications via a pop up window rather than needing to click through to a separate page that is displayed on the store.

Amazon to Fix Kindle Fire

The Kindle Fire launched as the most popular Android tablet. When you compare the Kindle Fire vs iPad, there are a lot of differences. The most noticeable differences are price and size. The Kindle Fire comes in at a full $300 less than the cheapest iPad. Some people, however, are complaining that the Kindle Fire is quite slow and buggy.

Today, Amazon announced that it will be issuing software fixes for many of the most complained about bugs and issues with the Kindle Fire. Since Amazon has their own custom version of Android, it is pretty easy for them to fix things and make customizations to fit their hardware. In this way, they are very similar to Apple with the iPad.

I have been listening to a lot of dubstep lately, which is a new type of music that features heavy bass. The IPhone 4S on AT&T

To market the iPhones 4S to consumers, AT&T will be taking a different tact to the other carriers. They will be advertising that the data downloads on the iPhone 4S will be faster on their network. The question that most consumers will be wondering is, is this really the case?

The iPhone 4S plans are similar across all the carriers, so it will be difficult to win market share from other carriers. If it is true that AT&T can offer faster download speeds, then this could be the differentiating factor that could win it that crucial market share.

The iPhone 4S on each of the carriers is in fact, actually the same. What the difference is is that AT&T’s network supports High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) which is compatible with the iPhone 4S. The other carriers do not have this capability.

HSDPA allows for theoretical speeds of up to 14.4Mbps, which can only be achieved with the iPhone 4S on the AT&T network.

This immediately sounds like a win for AT&T and the consumer however, the 14.4Mbps is only a theoretical maximum speed. The actual speed that a user can achieve could actually be significantly less. AT&T have released in a press statement previously that a users typical download speed would be more like 700kbps to 1.7Mbps. This speed does not even come anywhere near the maximum speed of 14.4Mbps. AT&T have also mentioned that they are liaising with Apple to try to add a new indicator to show the consumer they are using a 4G network.

T-Mobile’s network has a much more capable HSDPA network, however the network runs at a frequency that is not supported by the iPhone 4S making it useless.

Expect AT&T to start marketing the iPhone as being faster on their network. They won’t be able to differentiate on the iPhone 4S price, so this will be the only way.

Texting While Driving Statistics Scared Me

My old dear is always having a go at me about using my cell phone when I am driving my car and today she sent me over an email with a load of texting while driving statistics in it. These did not really mean anything to me but I did have a read because some of the numbers on there were quite shocking. It would appear that there are a great many road traffic accidents that occur every day that are down to people trying to send text messages on their cell phones and control a motor vehicle. It was scary when it showed that some twelve and a half thousand people lost their lives on the road in the United Kingdom last year because they were using cell phones and to be honest that was enough to make me think twice about doing it again for a while anyway.

Plastic Kindle Cover for My Sister

While my sister was searching for kindle accessories, I decided that it was the time for her to have a plastic kindle cover. She doesn’t pay attention to where she leaves her kindle or how, so it happened more than once to find the kindle under the bed. A plastic kindle cover would protect the kindle when it falls down on the floor. I think that a red color or yellow would be a very good choice so that she can see it easily when she doesn’t remember where she left it. My sister said that she doesn’t want to have a cover that is made of plastic so she decided to get the leather version. I have to admit that the leather kindle cover looks much nicer, but on the other hand it doesn’t protect the kindle as well as the strong plastic kindle cover would have done it.
